The Animal Clinic in Montgomery, AL provies a range of veterinary care services including digital x-rays, general care, and diagnostic procedures.


The Animal Clinic is very proud to be one of only 20 veterinary practices in the state of Alabama that have met the strict requirements to be a certified American Animal Hospital Association approved veterinary hospital. AAHA Pet Owner | AAHA


The Animal Clinic's mission is to provide up-to-date medical care for companion animals at a sensible and affordable cost. State-of-the-art laboratory, digital x-ray, ultrasound, and many other modern diagnostic procedures allow us to provide the most effective treatment and counseling ensuring the best quality of life for your best friend.


The Animal Clinic is at the forefront of telemedicine. Digital radiographs, ultrasounds, and other diagnostic procedures are sent via the Internet to board certified specialists and a written consultation is emailed back, usually within two hours. Board-certified veterinary specialist are available for consultation and their services are frequently used. Dr. Drake also works very closely with Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine for consultation and referral.

  • Anthony C. Drake, DVM

    Dr. Tony Drake is a native Alabamian having grown up on a farm in East Alabama. As early as 12 years old, he knew that caring for animals would be his passion throughout life. He attended Auburn University and graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree at the age of 23. 


    After practicing briefly in Birmingham, Alabama, he moved to Montgomery where he has been practicing small animal medicine ever since. Upon the retirement of his father-in-law, Dr. Gordon Kendall, he became the owner of The Animal Clinic. The Animal Clinic was established in 1942 by Dr. Kendall and is the oldest established veterinary practice in the River Region.


    Aside from being very active in the veterinary profession, Dr. Drake is very active in his church, Aldersgate United Methodist, an avid Auburn sports fan, and enjoys reading and studying history.

  • Jasmine Riggins

    Jasmine'™s duties include management, scheduling, and in general keeping The Animal Clinic running smoothly. Jasmine is a junior at Alabama State University. Her major is business administration. She is a graduate of Carver High School of Montgomery where she was a majorette, an active member of the school chorus, and was on the varsity track team.


    As a member of Ephod Family Worship Center Church, she is heavily involved in their activities and sings in the choir. Jasmine loves children and very much enjoys helping people.

  • Kristy

    Kristy Lee

    After graduating from Tennessee, Krisy  attended and graduated from Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee with a B.S. in Psychology. While attending college,  she was a performer and a horse trick rider for Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede touring the East Coast of the United States.

    Upon graduation from Carson-Newman, she accepted a job with the City of Montgomery,  utilizing both her college training in psyschology and her avocation with horses to administer equine and recreational therapy for special needs children and adults.

    Kristy found her work with the City to be extremely rewarding but decided to make a career change that would bring together her love for people and her love for animals.  Her choice was to pursue a career in as a licensed veterinary technician.  She accepted a position with The Animal Clinic, P.C. while enrolling in the Fall of 2015 in Jefferson State College’s Veterinary Technician Program.  Since many of her credits transferred from Carson Newman University, she is on the fast tract to earning her degree as a licensed veterinary technician.

    Kristy is an attractive, warm, and friendly addition to our staff.  We are extremely proud to have her on board.

  • Paige Pritchett

    Paige grew up in the Highland Home community just south of Montgomery and still lives there. She is a graduate of Highland Home High School where she was the head cheerleader. She is the mother of six-year-old Emma who is the joy of her life. She has many pets, not the least of which is a little ornery but extremely smart Maltypoo named Gus. Paige is our head technician and does a superb job. In her off time she enjoys being with friends and with Emma participating in all her activities.

  • Hugo Sanchez

    Hugo is an extremely valuable member of our staff. He is our groomer and animal caretaker. As animal caretaker, Hugo takes great pride in his job of feeding, exercising, and providing hygiene for the animals being housed at The Animal Clinic. Hugo is undoubtedly by far the best animal caretaker that has ever worked in the long history of The Animal Clinic. Hugo'™s heart is Benny, his 120 pound œgentle giant Rottweiler.


    Among his many duties, Hugo also serves as our translator for our growing Hispanic clientele. Above all, everyone of our clients love Hugo. Hugo has a huge heart and will do everything in his power to take the best care of your pets and to please you.

  • Jim Skinner

    Jim is a native of Pennsylvania. After serving several years in the Air Force and living and working in Georgia after leaving the Air Force, he moved to Montgomeryfive years ago. Jim is experienced in technology and has been a tremendous asset bringing The Animal Clinic to the forefront of veterinary medical technology.


    Jim loves animals, especially small breed dogs. Jim is a very likable person and his attention to detail has been a great addition to the staff of The Animal Clinic.

  • Marissa Craig

    Marissa Craig

    Marissa Craig is a pre-vet student at AUM.  Her love of animals and biology made an easy decision for her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

    She is native of Montgomery where she attended Catholic High School and was a stand-out on the varsity track team.

    She is a very likable and charming young lady who has become a big hit with our clients and their pets. Her hobbies include doing community service work through her sorority and hanging out with her family, friends and her dogs Winston and Coconut.

  • Dylan Craig

    Dylan is in college studying information systems at AUM and works part time at The Animal Clinic.  His chief duty is assisting in keeping the development and maintenance of our technology part of the practice. Also, he helps with the normal office routine of the practice.

    Apart from his busy schedule of school and work, he enjoys personal projects on his computer at home and spending time with his friends, family, and his dogs Winston and Coconut.

  • Ginny Snipes

    Ginny Snipes is the newest member of our staff. She attends Loveless Academic Magnet Program (LAMP) which is located just across the street from The Animal Clinic.  Aside from being an honor student and member of the National Honor Society, she is a co-captain of the cheerleading squad. She plans on attending Auburn University in order to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

    Ginny grew up in Montgomery with lots and lots of pets. She has spent much time on their family farm a few miles outside of Montgomery. There she has been exposed to many sorts of animals including goats, cows, pigs, and horses, as well as her many dogs and cats.

    She is a very fine young lady and we are very proud to have her on board. She is very friendly and cordial and always makes our clients and our patients feel right at home. Animals immediately respond with a big tail wag when greeted by Ginny's warm and cordial demeanor.
