Anthony C. Drake, DVM
Took over practice in 1969
Dr. Tony Drake is a native Alabamian having grown up on a farm in East Alabama. As early as 12 years old, he knew that caring for animals would be his passion throughout life. He attended Auburn University and graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree at the age of 23.
After practicing briefly in Birmingham, Alabama, he moved to Montgomery where he has been practicing small animal medicine ever since. Upon the retirement of his father-in-law, Dr. Gordon Kendall, he became the owner of The Animal Clinic. The Animal Clinic was established in 1942 by Dr. Kendall and is the oldest established veterinary practice in the River Region.
Aside from being very active in the veterinary profession, Dr. Drake is very active in his church, Aldersgate United Methodist, an avid Auburn sports fan, and enjoys reading and studying history.
Hugo Sanchez
Joined the Team in 2006
Hugo is an extremely valuable member of our staff. He is our groomer and animal caretaker. As animal caretaker, Hugo takes great pride in his job of feeding, exercising, and providing hygiene for the animals being housed at The Animal Clinic. Hugo is undoubtedly by far the best animal caretaker that has ever worked in the long history of The Animal Clinic. Hugo’s heart is Benny, his 120 pound gentle giant Rottweiler.
Among his many duties, Hugo also serves as our translator for our growing Hispanic clientele. Above all, everyone of our clients love Hugo. Hugo has a huge heart and will do everything in his power to take the best care of your pets and to please you.
Jim Skinner
Joined the Team in 2014
Jim is a native of Pennsylvania. After serving several years in the Air Force and living and working in Georgia after leaving the Air Force, he moved to Montgomeryfive years ago. Jim is experienced in technology and has been a tremendous asset bringing The Animal Clinic to the forefront of veterinary medical technology.
Jim loves animals, especially small breed dogs. Jim is a very likable person and his attention to detail has been a great addition to the staff of The Animal Clinic.
Lindsey
Office Manager
Joined the Team in 2017
Lindsey graduated from LAMP High School and now attends Auburn University. She is studying Animal Science with a focus on business. Lindsey is involved in her sorority, Tri Delta, Pre-Veterinary Medical Association, and Auburn University Dance Marathon.
Lindsey realized her passion for animals at an early age and started helping take care of all the science lab animals at her elementary school, in the process deciding she wanted to become a veterinarian as a career. She has worked at a veterinarian clinic since she was 16.
